About Us

  • The Agriculture Society of India was established in September 1956, following the creation of the Post-graduate Department of Agriculture (now Institute of Agricultural Science), Calcutta University.
  • Registered under the Society Act No. XVI of 1860 (Registration No. S/2871 of 1957-58), the Society was founded by visionary leaders under the presidency of renowned scientists Prof. N. R. Dhar and Prof. P. K. Sen.
  • Over the decades, under the leadership of eminent scientists, Society has made significant contributions to Indian agriculture through research, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

  • In 1956, the Society launched its official journal, “Indian Agriculturist”, which began as a half-yearly publication under Prof. P.K. Sen. It is now a quarterly  journal, continuing to serve as a key medium for publishing agricultural research in Eastern India.

The Official Publication of the Agricultural Society of India

The Indian Agriculturist is the official journal published by The Agricultural Society of India. Serving as a trusted source of scholarly and practical insights, the journal is dedicated to advancing knowledge in agriculture, allied sciences, and rural development. Author Guidelines

Call for Papers
Indian Agriculturist Journal

We invite researchers, academicians, and professionals to contribute original research articles, review papers, and short communications in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. Submissions are open year-round, and all manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process to maintain high publication standards. Contribute to one of India’s longest-standing agricultural journals and be part of a vibrant scholarly community.

Manuscript Formatting

Authors must follow standard academic formatting. Authors must prepare manuscripts in clear, concise, and academically appropriate English.

Referencing Style

Use either APA or IJA citation formats. References should be clearly cited both in-text and in the reference list at the end of the manuscript.

Plagiarism Policy

Originality is a fundamental requirement. All submissions must be the author’s own work and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure academic rigor and objectivity. This means that both the author’s and reviewers’ identities are kept confidential throughout the review. Each paper is reviewed by at least two subject-matter experts who evaluate the work based on its originality, methodology, clarity, and contribution to the field. Authors may be required to make revisions based on reviewer feedback before final acceptance.
